Vermonters for Good Government

Planned Parenthood of Vermont has repeatedly stated the following:

“The Reproductive Liberty Amendment would guarantee ALL people in Vermont the right to become pregnant and carry a pregnancy to term; choose abortion; choose or refuse sterilization; and to choose or refuse contraception.”

The claim Planned Parenthood makes is false.

While Planned Parenthood asserts that men can become pregnant as well as women, the reality is that current science and technology cannot make that guarantee.

Furthermore, science and technology will never be able to “guarantee” that ALL Vermonters can become pregnant and carry that pregnancy to term as miscarriages, infertility and fertility treatments will always have failure rates.

Email Legislators - No to Article 22

In this legislative session, you will be voting on Article 22, a proposed amendment to the Vermont Constitution. As a constituent, I urge you to vote “No” on this amendment.

Article 22 would enshrine Late-Term Abortion into the Vermont Constitution, a procedure that involves terminating a fully-developed infant that may be just days, or even hours, away from delivery. Infants at that stage of development are fully capable of feeling pain, and can easily survive outside the womb.

80% of Americans oppose this inhumane procedure, including 68% of pro-choice Americans, according to a 2019 poll by YouGov.

Article 22 would also force doctors and nurses to perform abortions – including Late-Term ones – that violate their conscience. This would lead to some of Vermont’s most talented doctors and nurses leaving the state at a time when our hospital system is already strained.

Parental rights will also be impacted, guaranteeing minor children are allowed to opt for reproductive procedures such as abortions or sterilizations without parental consent or notification.

For Vermont to enshrine these policies in the Constitution would be barbaric and put our state out of step with the rest of the nation.

As a constituent, I urge you to vote “No!”

Thank you.
